For the tourist safety, Traffic controls apply to Taroko - the Swallow Grotto, Shakadang Trail and Eternal Spring Shrine areas from October 2, 2017 for the rockfalls prevention construction work
To reinforce the tourist safety, the rockfalls prevention work at the Shakadang trail, the Swallow Grotto and Eternal Spring Shrine apply to the traffic controls at Taroko National Park. Please plan ahead for your visit.
A: Shakadang trail: there are 4 areas for the rockfalls prevention works.
Traffic randomly control period: October 2(Monday) to October 6(Friday), 2017. Trail will be opened as usual except the randomly traffic controls. Please be very cautious while entering this trail.
B: The rockfalls prevention work apply to the Swallow Grotto east trailhead to Jinheng Park section. The entire trail will be closed for the safety reason.
Trail closed period: 8:00am to 17:00, from October 11 – October 20, 2017.
C: The old highway of the Eternal Spring Shrine area:
Traffic Control Section: from the east of Changchun Bridge to the Changguan Temple Entrance White Gate-the old road section
Traffic randomly control period: October 21(Saturday) to October 27(Friday), 2017,
Time: 7:00am - 10:00, 12:00 – 15:00.
No traffic control period: before 7:00am, 10:00 – 12:00 and after 15:00.
Visitors are planning to visit this scenic spot will have no effect. The scenic spot is open to the public only this section of old road is closed. Visitors can still take the same road back to the highway no. 8 from where originally you are coming into this scenic spot.

Taroko National park showed that the rockfalls prevention work will be reduced the rockfalls and reinforce the tourist safety. The park will keep surveillance for unstable rock strata areas. Please obey the work staff traffic controls. Do not force enter the trail or road closure section.If it is affected by the weather, the work period has to be postponed. We will soon announce on our website “news”.
